Lead Yourself into the Future
Last week, we had a lead yourself into the future day. The day was about collaborating with other students and working as a team.
Every year, Carey has a Lead Yourself into the Future Day for the year 6’s from both the Kew Campus and the Donvale campus.
I found that the Lead Yourself into the Future day was both challenging and exciting. We were allocated groups to work in and put with a teacher. The teacher we had was Mrs. Burr and the teachers, also called LEADERS of that specific group, was to guide and help the students throughout the day. Students from Kew and students from Donvale were all mixed up and put into groups.
Throughout the day, we were given challenges to do as a team. The first challenge we had to do was to make the tallest newspaper tower. That challenge was full of both stress and excitement.
After that we had a session on your smart and permeative brain, build a cup tower without using you hands challenge and a plank challenge with our group.
My favourite challenge was the paper tower challenge as it used many Carey PLA’s. For example, resilience, collaboration and knowledge. We needed resilience because on our first try we couldn’t get the tower to stand up. Collaboration was used when making the tower because we needed somebody to tape it together, somebody to roll the paper up and others to help with the making.
Altogether the Lead Yourself into the Future day was a huge success I enjoyed it very much.
